Important JCC Covid Procedural Updates

*according to NJ Governor Phil Murphy, as of 11/27 anybody traveling to any places that aren’t neighboring states should abide by a 14-day quarantine.

Dear Community,

With the recent uptick in COVID cases in NJ, we are urging our community to do their part to stop the spread. The world is facing COVID fatigue, we understand, but as we have lived and learned, when we stay vigilant, we can suppress transmission and live beyond our homes, safely.

Our JCC is closely monitoring the schools, local and state government briefings, and the reports of new cases. We are in constant communication with the health department, ensuring best practices and procedures are in place at all times.

When coming to the JCC, a mask is required prior to entering the building and must remain on throughout your travels in and around the building. This includes walking outdoors to and from fitness classes and other outdoor activities. When you enter the JCC building, you will have your temperature checked, either by the security staff member or a Welcome Center staff member. In addition, you will be asked several questions recommended by the CDC and local health department before gaining access to the building. The following questions are part of our screening process and are subject to change:

  • Do you have any COVID symptoms or feel ill in anyway?
  • Have you been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or who has a pending test in the past 14 days?
  • Have you traveled outside of NJ for 24 hours or more to any state on the travel advisory list in the past 14 days?

If you would need to answer yes to any of the above, please stay home.

While everyone here at the JCC is looking forward to welcoming home the college students and having them back at the J, we must recognize the current health emergency in our country. The following applies to college students and anyone, of all ages, who has traveled: If you are returning home to New Jersey from a state on the New Jersey travel advisory list, you will not be allowed into the JCC until the 14 day quarantine period is completed upon your return home. This is our policy whether or not you have had a negative COVID test during that time period. This means you will not be able to utilize the facility for working out, fitness classes, etc. until 14 days have passed from your return to New Jersey. We also ask that if you are planning on attending any large group gatherings, parties, come into contact with someone who is feeling unwell or exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms that you do not come to the JCC.

The list of states where the travel advisory is in effect from can be found at the following link:

We are asking that everyone do their part to keep our community safe. So we ask you, wear a mask in any public setting, stay 6 feet from others, and diligently wash your hands. Following these guidelines could contribute to over 100,000 lives saved by February, and help ensure your JCC remains open to all who rely on us.
