Full Time: Tuesday – Saturday

General Work Week Schedule:

Saturday: 9 AM – 5 PM Tuesday-Friday: Varied hours based on coaching and teaching schedule: 12 – 8 PM & 10 AM – 6 PM

Summer Time: Depending on Candidate, work schedule will be adjusted based on summer responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Swim Team: Lead Development Coach

  • Being the lead coach for the developmental groups on the team, including the Pre-Competitive group.
  • Designing season plans in accordance with the Head Coach.
  • Assisting with other training groups as needed.
  • Attending scheduled USA Swim meets.
  • Working with the Head Coach to recruit new swimmers and schedule tryouts.
  • Assisting the parent committee with tasks such as spirit wear orders, group socials, and the end of season banquets for both the short course season and Summer Tide.
  • Performing Administrative tasks such as meet entries, weekly newsletters, updating the team website, etc.

Aquatics:

  • Evening Supervisor of pools
  • Supervising lifeguards
  • Overseeing maintenance of pool including chemical, cleanliness
  • Lifeguarding as needed
  • Other Aquatics Duties as needed

Recreation:

  • Creating, organizing and implementing new recreation and enrichment classes and programs for Early Childhood, youth, teens and adults.
  • Teach Early Childhood Center Physical Education classes.
  • Oversee gym rentals, contracts, promoting and outreach for additional rentals.
  • Managing Gym Schedule.
  • Monitor Gymnasium and Work with Fitness Staff to monitor locker-rooms.
  • Work with marketing team to make sure all your programs are being marketed as needed.
  • Generate, integrate and shares new ideas; demonstrate creativity and develop innovative programs, services, and systems always looking for growth opportunities for sports and recreation programming.
  • Proactively foster, develop and maintain relationships in the community that will allow JCC to enhance and expand services.
  • Build successful partnerships and synergy with agency program and operations staff.

Summer Time:

  • Swim Club and/or Day Camp Responsibilities. Role dependent on Candidate.

Overall JCC Duties

  • Support the mission of the JCC.
  • Represent and promote JCC at community-wide events, programs, and open-houses, including those that fall on evenings and weekends throughout the year.
  • Work with members and clients of the JCC to ensure happiness and ease concerns.
  • Attend full staff and program staff meetings.
  • Participation in professional development workshops/conferences, training seminars and webinars, as assigned.
  • Posses sense of humor, and the desire to have fun!
  • Actively pursue an understanding of all JCC programs in order to provide the seamless stewardship of families through Agency offerings.
  • Saturday and many evenings this position serves the “professional” staff on duty in the building. During the summer months hours will be adjusted to fit with the pool club/camp schedule.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in related field.
  • Certified Lifeguard (or willing to become certified).
  • Certified Pool Operator (or willing to become a CPO).
  • Experience in Teaching/Coaching Swim.
  • Proven experience in youth, aquatics and sports programs.
  • Works well in a team as well as independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to adapt and always have a calm demeanor.

At the JCC, our mission is to provide diverse, meaningful programming to meet the needs of our community.  We are passionate about enhancing quality of life for people of all ages through education, recreation, fitness, culture, social and family activities, and other programs and services.

Our adult intern program provides direct support for adults with special needs in a vocational and recreational setting. We are hiring a Direct Support Professional (Mentor) to join us!  We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated, high-energy Mentor who is experienced working with adults with special needs who are 21 and older.  Your role will include managing structured programming, participating in a variety of activities, and overall providing one-on-one supervision in a hybrid program location at both the JCC (Bridgewater, NJ) and our client’s home (Hunterdon County, NJ).

The hours for the position are Monday – Friday, 8:45 AM – 4:00 PM. Background Check and Drug Screening Required. Covid-19 Vaccine or weekly testing required.

We offer $20/hour, dental and vision insurance, paid time off, and a JCC fitness membership.  You’ll also receive specialized training to help you offer the best support possible to the people we serve.

As a Mentor, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing structured programming including vocational training, volunteering, recreational opportunities, and activities of daily living skills training.
  • Providing supervision based on level of functioning (i.e. 1:1 to line of sight)
  • Full participation in all activities with participant including (swimming, walking, cooking, gardening, exercising, arts and crafts and more).
  • Developing individualized occupational goals and planning/implementing trainings to develop a person’s occupational and social skills.
  • Daily documenting of case notes/logs.
  • Attending monthly staff meetings at the JCC.

Trainings offered by the JCC include:

  • Specialized training in the behavioral social services field.
  • Paid training for orientation and all pre-certification classes including CPR, First Aid, Preventing Abuse and Neglect, Medication Administration (as needed), Danielle’s Law.

The IDEAL candidate will have:

  • Two years of experience working with developmentally disabled, special needs, autistic and behaviorally challenged adults.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to travel/work between the JCC in Bridgewater, NJ and the client’s home in Hunterdon County, NJ; ability to drive participant between activities using one’s own car.
  • Comfortable with hands-on hygiene care such as toileting and showering.
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • ABA experience is a plus.
  • High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Immediate Full Time Openings.  Must be caring, compassionate, flexible and energetic.

Ideal candidate is a friendly retired law enforcement officer, who possesses a SORA Level 2, as well a New Jersey Retired LEO Permit to Carry. Looking for a “people person”.

Responsibilities include greeting members and guests at the premises’ entrance, and directing people to their destination.  Perform temperature checks of members/guests upon arrival.  Observe the premises via video monitor as well as in person. Occasional walking patrols of the premises. Possible sub hours, as well as expanded hours during the summer.  Great family place to work!
