Welcome Shahar!!

It is our pleasure to introduce Shahar, our Israeli Rishona.

Shahar is here in the United States, in partnership with Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ, for the next year to bring Israeli programming and culture to the JCC.  She will be here helping us with cultural programming for families and community events.

She will be facilitating programs in the preschool, with the JCares Special Needs Program, in JCrew After School Program, with our families, joining in on the Jewish Life programs, and will have an overall presence within the JCC.

She will also be teaching the staff during some of our staff meetings and running some learning sessions with our next cohort of staff traveling to Israel.

My name is Shahar Shriki, I will soon be turning 18 years old. I live in Ofakim, Ofakim is a small and lovely city in the southwest of Israel. I have 5 siblings. I used to be in a youth movement called “Krembo Wing”- a movement for youth with and without special needs. I was active in the movement for 4.5 years and it was a large part of my life. I have also taken part in a project called “Gesher (bridge)”. “Gesher” is a project of partnership together, in the project we learned about Jewish identity and visited New Jersey and then our counterparts in New Jersey came to visit us in Ofakim and Arad. In school I majored in physics and electronics and I was in a class that studies with IDF uniforms as part of the corps of computing. In my free time I love to sing, travel and hang out with my friends. I am looking forward to start working here at the Bridgewater JCC!
